Animals/Wildlife
AAP is a European rescue centre and sanctuary for primates and other exotic mammals. Based in the Netherlands, we house animals from all over Europe. They have been confiscated, abandoned or offered by private owners as a result of illegal trade, were being exhibited in illegal zoos or used in biomedical research or the entertainment industry. AAP specialises in housing primates, but other small, non-domesticated mammals, such as raccoons, skunks and prairie dogs, also find shelter at our centre. Many of the animals have a history of abuse and neglect. At AAP they receive the professional care needed for their physical and mental recovery. After a careful process of rehabilitation, long-term solutions are sought through outplacement. We aim to outplace our animals in relatively natural environments, such as renowned zoos and animal parks. On average, AAP houses aroud 300 animals at a time. In 2008 a total of 102 animals found shelter at AAP and 119 animals were outplaced.

The Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre (AARC) is a long-term treatment program for chemically dependent adolescents and their families. Success at AARC is a graduate who is clean and sober, back in school or working, and reunited with his or her family. The program is often the treatment of last resort for young people who have been in jail, in front of the court, suicidal, violent, in psychiatric wards, living on the streets, in other treatment programs, and/or removed from their home. Here at the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre, we see miracles happen everyday. When a young person walks through the doors of AARC, they are often desperate, defeated, and completely hopeless. Lives have been destroyed and families have been torn apart. We believe in this program, because we've seen it work - over and over again.

The principle of how Abaana works is by getting young people to network. In other words, YOU get involved then you get your friends, your school, university, and church involved. Soon you could have thousands of young people making a difference. Abaana has taken over 200 people to Uganda on teams. We have organised teams for churches, schools and individual groups of young people, men and ladies. Through the support of many generous people, and the hard work of numerous young people in schools, churches and youth groups, Abaana has raised over £500,000 to help build schools, medical projects, water pumps and support many children in need.

Abandoned Cats Rescue is a completely independent rescue group that is 100% run by committed volunteers. Most of our cats have been rescued from an out-of-town Animal Control, typically the day before they would be euthanized. Since thousands are euthanized each year we can't help them all, so we work with the ones that are most adoptable. Our cats are housed in loving volunteer foster homes. All adoption fees and donations go completely to assisting the cats in our care. Our cats are spayed or neutered, checked by a vet, and treated for medical needs as necessary. We never euthanize animals we can't find homes for. Abandoned Cats Rescue is a Canadian Registered Charity. We're proud of this affiliation, because it reflects our dedication not only to the cats and kittens that we rescue, but also to the general public who adopt our cats and generously donate to us.

Abandoned Children's Fund is a bridge between your heart and the world's abandoned children. ACF is a way for you to give your love and compassion to those in need of something better than the endless cycle of poverty, malnutrition and death from deadly diseases. Our orphan centers give abandoned children an alternative. They have a bed to sleep in, food to eat, clean water to drink and love. Along with the basic human daily needs of orphans, we provide education, vocational training and mentoring, so that they have hopes for a brighter future. Basically these abandoned children are like any other child in the world. They like to play, value education and good family relationships. They long for the day when they will have a good family where love is felt, where there is understanding and where there is the security of daily meals and no more fear and loneliness.
