Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing ministry. Habitat welcomes all people--regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or any other difference--to build simple, decent, affordable houses with those who lack adequate shelter. Habitat affiliates work locally in communities around the world to select and support homeowners, organize volunteers and coordinate house building. Since its founding in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has built over 300,000 houses, providing shelter for more than 1.5 million people in over 90 countries around the world. A new Habitat house is completed somewhere in the world every 21 minutes.
