The Greater Houston Community Foundation began operations in 1995 and ended 2008 with over $230 million in assets in more than 600 funds. In 2008 our donors made grants totaling $68.5 million to a variety of nonprofits. The Community Foundation offers many easy ways to help you make a significant impact with your giving. By partnering with GHCF, donors gain the simplicity and optimal tax benefits of giving to a public charity combined with the recognition, involvement and flexibility of giving through a private foundation. GHCF donors also gain an opportunity to participate in a community-wide strategic dialogue on developing innovative and collaborative solutions to meet community challenges.
