Astraea is a dynamic global foundation providing critically needed financial support to lesbian-led, trans, LGBTI and progressive organizations. Separated by continents, language and culture, Astraea grantees are seizing opportunities, and laying the groundwork necessary for women and LGBTI people to claim their human rights. Astraea staff, board, members and grantees all share a deep commitment to feminist principles, racial and economic justice and human rights. For more than thirty years, we have raised funds and issued grants based on the belief that everyone can participate in the philanthropic process, from giving to grantmaking. We believe that true social change is propelled forward, from person to person, community to community, continent to continent. We support programs and policies that strive to eliminate oppression based on race, age, sex, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, economic exploitation, physical and mental ability, anti-Semitism, and other such factors. Only through action will we build a world of peace and justice for lesbians, and for society as a whole.

Ataxia UK is small charity based in Oval, South London, it began life modestly back in 1963, when Dr R L Hewer and Dr Norman Robinson encouraged a group of parents whose children had Friedreich's ataxia to get together for mutual support. In the past forty years, we have awarded millions of pounds for research into ataxia – an astonishing achievement for a small charity. Ataxia UK works in two main ways: we fund research into finding treatments and a cure for ataxia, and we support people through our range of services. In the next ten years, we aim to establish Ataxia Centres nationwide, to continue to have a flourishing network of branches and support groups. Funding research projects into the ataxias will remain our first priority. Our ultimate goal remains to find a cure for ataxia.

The Fourth World People's University started in September 2007. It allows people who live in poverty to gather, to express what they are living and to reflect about it together. It is also a meeting place between people living in poverty and others who have not experienced poverty. It allows us to dialogue and learn from one another to better fight against poverty and exclusion from where we are. Every two months we approach a significant topic for the fight against poverty.

Habitat loss, toxicity, and wildlife-borne diseases can all be better understood if we document and study wildlife afflicted by these conditions. The potential benefit is enormous. The pair create transdisciplinary works and events for the public realm that take the form of interventions, installations, performance art and realistic stagings. Its artistic creations—always provided free of charge and designed to draw people closer together—are one-of-a-kind experiences from both a sensorial and a humanistic standpoint.

The Attlee Foundation was established with support from across the political spectrum in 1967. Its aim was to benefit people disadvantaged by poverty or lack of opportunity and in doing so to commemorate the life and achievements of Clement Attlee. Before becoming Prime Minister, Attlee became a youth/community worker in the Spitalfields area of London’s East End, where today the Foundation and its youth and community are based. This experience completely changed Attlee's outlook on life. In his subsequent work as a Member of Parliament and Prime Minister, Attlee sought to get at the root of social problems and so change the outcomes in people's lives. He believed that better access to opportunities for young people and others for disadvantaged communities would enable people to reach their full potential. These are the values that underpin the Foundation's work.

Audubon Canyon Ranch properties include the Cypress Grove Research Center on Tomales Bay, the 535-acre Bouverie Preserve in Sonoma and the 1,000-acre Martin Griffin Preserve in Stinson Beach, which is home to one of the San Francisco Bay Area's most significant and most studied Great Egret and Great Blue Heron nesting sites. ACR's programs are made possible thanks to the contribution of thousands of hours of volunteer service, and donations from caring individuals, foundations and businesses. The Audubon Commission was established by State Act in 1914 to maintain and develop Audubon Park. A flight cage was added to the park in 1916, and its popularity launched the community's call for a full-scale zoo. Community leaders united as the New Orleans Zoological Society, and private donations soon funded a monkey cage, a mammal cage and a deer paddock.

Auntie supports the training and development of childcare practitioners in Africa, runs and supports crèches in the poorest South African township communities, supports afterschool and mentoring programmes for children aged 7 – 18, will sponsor primary education for those who cannot afford it, and provides vocational training to help young people into meaningful jobs.

At the Residential Centre children live-in and receive 24 hour monitoring. The Stimulation Centre/School, is where the children attend classes from 8 to 12. The classes are divided up into the nature of disability and ability to progress. Here they are stimulated by Light Therapy, Hydrotherapy, Ball Therapy and Physiotherapy.

The Aurora Health Foundation is a specialist therapy centre that was founded by a Survivor/Therapist in late 2006 to provide services for mainly adult men and women survivors of childhood sexual abuse, but also for survivors of childhood physical, emotional and psychological abuse. In addition, Aurora has developed a particular focus on helping adult survivors of Female Sexual Abuse in childhood. Aurora also offers help to the people who support survivors in their healing journey, including partners, family members and even friends. As a specialist service we are aware of the usefulness of bodywork therapies for survivors of abuse. We recognise that these interventions can help people overcome the stresses and anxieties with body image they may experience as a result of their traumatic experience(s). We also feel that they can help survivors who are unable or unwilling to discuss their emotions or memories via a "talking therapy" consultation. We believe that giving clients control of their therapy contract empowers them in their own journey to recovery. We all work together to offer a unique blend of counselling, support and complementary therapies for aiding recovery.
