Founded in 1964 in Portland, Oregon, the World Forestry Center is a nonprofit educational institution. The World Forestry Center owns and operates two working forests donated to us by landowners who wanted to ensure their properties would be protected from development and managed according to the principles of sustainable forestry.

World Help was born out of a sincere desire to help those in need...not only spiritually, but physically. Founded in 1991 as a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian organization, World Help began providing God’s Word to the spiritually starved nations of Eastern Europe. In a world of over 6 billion people, the needs are overwhelming. Hunger, war, famine, disease, and natural disaster create a worldwide climate of suffering that most of us cannot begin to comprehend. Our hearts are moved with compassion, but what can one person do? As citizens of the most blessed nation on earth today, we must find a way to do something. Perhaps we can help if we look beyond the crushing physical need and work to solve the real problem our world faces. World Help was born out of a desire to help those in need...not only spiritually, but physically.

WHI exists because of God's clear mandate for His followers to help people in need. We go to remote areas and partner with people in an effort to bring healing, restoration and positive, sustainable change. Our programs offer opportunity, dignity and hope in places where those things are usually in short supply. Widows, orphans, the sick, the exploited and the forgotten--the world's poor are worth our dollars, our time, our dedication, our sacrifice and our hearts. Together we can do incredible things. Our four recovery and rehabilitation centres, located throughout Great Britain are open to the public all year too, so you can come and meet some of our horses. World Horse Welfare, which was founded in 1927 by Ada Cole, is a charity dedicated to caring for horses. Although we have been committed to protecting horses throughout our history, we have diversified; today we focus on both direct and indirect action. The charity has 150 staff, the majority of which are based at our head office, in Norfolk, and four recovery and rehabilitation centres around the UK. In Britain, we have responsibility for roughly 1,700 horses, nearly all of which have suffered abuse or neglect, and more than 85% of which are in caring loan homes. Overseas, we train more than 100 saddlers and farriers every year who use their skills to improve the lives of local working horses and the lives of their owners.

We started our work as a direct response to the urgent needs of the Kurds who were gassed by Saddam Hussein in Iraqi Kurdistan. With the clear understanding that western help needs to be locally sensitive and to empower local people to find local ways of making changes in their own culture. Since then, our teams have helped victims of the earthquake disaster in Turkey, slum children in Delhi, drug addicts in Thailand, "Smokey mountain" rubbish dump dwellers in northern Philippines, Borana nomads in Kenya, Fulani and Hausa peoples in Nigeria. We have given aid in Kosovo, started work with orphans in Uganda, helped develop jobs in Mombasa, and assisted the refugees in Azerbaijan. This has grown into a movement working in some 20 countries, encouraging and empowering those who seek to make a difference where they live, and to own their own development work.

WID creates innovative programs and tools; conducts research, public education, training and advocacy campaigns; and provides technical assistance. An internationally recognized public policy center founded in 1983 by leaders of the Independent Living Movement, WID's program work focuses on issues and problems that directly affect people’s ability to live full and independent lives.

Founded in 1933, WJR is the main overseas aid arm of the UK Jewish community. We provide basic welfare support in the form of food, medication and fuel as well as sustaining and renewing Jewish life in communities across the world. With its global outlook today WJR is positioned as the charity to channel the UK Jewish community's response to disasters and need affecting the international community regardless of race, religion or nationality. WJR is above all an enabling organisation, helping individuals and communities to survive and thrive.

The World Land Trust is an international conservation charity, based in Halesworth, a rural town in Suffolk, UK. Since its foundation in 1989 as the World Wide Land Conservation Trust, the World Land Trust has been working to preserve the world's most biologically important and threatened lands, and has helped purchase and protect over 400,000 acres of habitats rich in wildlife, in Asia, Central and South America and the UK.

WLPA receives no government subsidies and is staffed primarily by volunteers. The League was founded by Miss Kate Deighton and Rudolf Bergner in Germany in 1898 and formally organised in Paris in 1900. The Australian branch of the League was formed in 1935 by Miss E B Moore and was originally titled 'The World Day for Animals League' It was allied to the English branch of The World League for Protection of Animals. Later the name of the Australian branch was changed to conform with that of the English parent society. The League was registered under the Charitable Collections Act, NSW 1934 on 14 May 1937.

World Medical Fund is registered as a charity with the Charity Commissioners for England and Wales and World Medical Fund USA is registered as a non-profit with the United States of America Inland Revenue. Its activities and executives are overseen by a board of Director/Trustees. The organisation operates as an international NGO (Non Governmental Organisation) and is a signatory to the Red Cross and Red Crescent Code of Conduct in Disaster Relief and is a fully-registered medical facility with the Malawi Medical Council. Every day we save young lives and ease suffering by making medical care available for the first time to village children; our practical and cost-effective programme is treating over 30,000 every year. We are also successfully treating children suffering from AIDS, reducing the incidence of mother to child transmission of the HIV virus and ensuring that history does not repeat itself by giving HIV/AIDS education.

We operate exclusively for charitable purposes, helping the poor, sick, and elderly on a local, national, and international basis. World Neighbors is an international development organization striving to eliminate hunger, poverty and disease in the poorest, most isolated rural villages in Asia, Africa and Latin America. World Neighbors invests in people and their communities by training and inspiring them to create their own life-changing solutions through programs in agriculture, literacy, water, health and environmental protection. Since 1951, more than 25 million people in 45 countries have transformed their lives with the support of World Neighbors. World Neighbors invests in people themselves through education and training, not by giving away material aid. We provide knowledge and strengthen local capacities for change rather than merely handing out technology or money. This makes our programs very efficient and creates lasting change rather than a short-term fix.

Created in 1986, the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT) is today the main coalition of international non-governmental organisations(NGO) fighting against torture, summary executions, enforced disappearances and all other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment. With 282 affiliated organisations in its SOS-Torture Network and many tens of thousands correspondents in every country, OMCT is the most important network of non-governmental organisations working for the protection and the promotion of human rights in the world.

The World Owl Trust works on owl conservation on a global scale, and we have members in many countries around the world. Our conservation programmes protect populations of endangered owls until their habitat has been restored. This is the purpose of our Owl Centre. If we succeed in breeding from the birds we hold they can be reintroduced back into to the wild. This has already been achieved for the European Eagle Owl and British Barn Owl. The Trust is a registered charity and relies heavily on the generous donations it receives from our members, supporters and visitors to the Centre.

Nearly one-third of all parrot species are threatened in the wild. And millions of pet parrots share our lives and homes. As a leader in parrot conservation and welfare, the World Parrot Trust works with parrot enthusiasts, researchers, local communities and government leaders to encourage effective solutions that protect parrots

The World Pheasant Association (WPA) has achieved international recognition by conducting invaluable work on the conservation of the Galliformes, some of which are highly threatened. Examples of this work include intensive habitat and population surveys, many of which have resulted in the establishment of national parks and protected areas, and increased awareness and education of people about the importance of their local birds and habitat. WPA also works with private breeders and zoos around the world through Taxon Advisory Groups and other networks. These groups aim to promote good husbandry techniques and establish genetically viable captive populations which can be used for education, behavioural research and as a backup to the risks to wild populations.

In 1944 The War Relief Commission of the national Association of Evangelicals (NAE) is founded in New York City to address urgent humanitarian needs in war-torn Europe. Food and clothing are shipped from the United States and channeled through a network of churches in Europe's hardest-hit cities. In community with the local Church, World Relief envisions the most vulnerable people transformed economically, socially, and spiritually. After 9/11, World Relief supported the trauma counseling and relief ministries of churches in New York City. Funded by World Relief, trauma counseling continues today. Churches were a lifeline as famine swept through southern Africa in 2002 and World Relief mobilized local Christians to distribute food. Massive earthquakes in El Salvador (2001), India (2001) and Iran (2003) followed by the Asia tsunami (2004) led to an outpouring of aid from U.S. churches and individuals. When Hurricane Katrina ravaged the U.S. Gulf Coast in 2005, local churches were on the front lines – delivering emergency supplies, comforting the grief-stricken and providing refuge. World Relief supported church teams in the rebuilding and rehabilitation of homes in the devastated Pass Christian area along the Mississippi coast. The new century has seen a dramatic expansion of World Relief’s church-based HIV/AIDS ministries that today reach hundreds of thousands of people with care, support and AIDS education.

World Resources Institute(WRI) is an environmental think tank that goes beyond research to find practical ways to protect the earth and improve people's lives. Today's environmental challenges are complex and global in nature. They call for visionary and ambitious action grounded in sound science and objective analysis-the kind of action that has distinguished WRI for 25 years. WRI was launched June 3, 1982 as a center for policy research and analysis addressed to global resource and environmental issues.
