Physicians for Peace was founded in 1989, dedicated to the ideal that health care in the developing world can best be improved by providing training and education to health care professionals in those countries. By focusing on long-term, sustainable, replicable medical education and training, we send teams of medical volunteers — including physicians, dentists, nurses, physical therapists, physician assistants and other healthcare professionals — to places where their teaching and healing skills are needed most. Since its inception, Physicians for Peace has made hundreds of trips to Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central America, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East and beyond, changing the lives of countless thousands of people along the way.

PRCH was founded in 1992 by a small committee of concerned physicians in New York City, where we opened our first national office in 1995.We also maintain an organizational presence in San Francisco and Washington, DC, which enables us to conduct our recruiting, organizing, advocacy, and educational activities at the grassroots level.PRCH has two interconnecting program divisions that respond to the needs of our physician members and the public for information and services: External Affairs and Education, Research, and Training. These divisions provide opportunities for physicians to become more involved in the public discussion on contraception and abortion, to educate doctors about their responsibility to do so, to monitor state and national legislation tied to our mission, to communicate our message to the media, and to expand medical education in reproductive health. PRCH exists to ensure that all people have the knowledge, access to quality services, and freedom to make their own reproductive health decisions.PRCH mobilizes pro-choice physicians to promote, educate, and advocate about the importance of comprehensive reproductive healthcare.

PILLARS Inc, is an innovative long term, prevention programme serving children with a parent in prison. Established in 1988, services are delivered by professional social workers and volunteer mentors utilizing the natural and professional networks already available to the child, their parents and their family / whanau through a family wraparound which encompasses one on one social work support, children of prisoners mentoring, and strengthening families meetings. PILLARS has been a national leader in such work for over two decades, through supporting families to make positive change and remain and live crime free. The mentoring programme is one of the earliest programmes introduced in New Zealand.

The Pink Ribbon Foundation is a grant making trust with a mission to fund projects and provide financial support to UK charities which relieve the needs of people who are suffering from, or who have been affected by breast cancer or who work to advance the understanding of breast cancer, its early detection and treatment. Every year the Foundation invites charities concerned with breast cancer to apply for grants from the money raised. Operating in this way allows the Foundation to help charities both large and small – many of the small organisations rely on donations such as these to keep them going. Begun in 1939 as the Pittsburgh Opera Society, Pittsburgh Opera is the eighth oldest company in the United States and draws on a rich legacy of music-making. Among the many luminaries who have sung at Pittsburgh Opera are Luciano Pavarotti, Beverly Sills, Joan Sutherland, Sherrill Milnes, and Stephanie Blythe. The company’s first conductor, Richard Karp of Vienna, led Pittsburgh Opera for nearly 40 years and oversaw the company’s move to Heinz Hall in 1971. In 2008, Christopher Hahn was unanimously appointed General Director and has vigorously upheld Pittsburgh Opera’s high standards of management and artistic excellence, while spearheading the move to Pittsburgh Opera’s new headquarters in the historic George Westinghouse Air Brake Factory in Pittsburgh’s Strip District. The new facility has provided Pittsburgh Opera with the space to house the resources needed to better prepare for performances at the Benedum, while opening up a whole new way for the community to experience all the artistry that is part of opera.

Since 1982, the PKD Foundation has been building to this moment - this pivotal tipping point - when treatments for PKD are truly, finally, within reach. The PKD Foundation has come a long way since its first year funding research - one grant for only $25,000. Plant a Tree Today (PATT) Foundation works to raise awareness of global environmental issues, campaign for better environmental practices and take action against deforestation and climate change by planting trees. Our work is primarily focused on the restoration of native forests. We implement reforestation projects for both biodiversity reasons and also as a means to sequester atmospheric C02. In addition to this, PATT Foundation also has an active and innovative education program. The National Council For The Conservation Of Plants And Gardens was founded as a registered charity in 1978 to combine the talents of botanists, horticulturalists and conservationists with the dedication of keen amateur and professional gardeners. Plant Heritage's aims are to: encourage the propagation and conservation of cultivated plants in the British Isles; encourage and conduct research into cultivated plants, their origins, their historical and cultural importance and their environments; and encourage the education of the public in cultivated plant conservation. Through its membership and the National Collection Holders, the NCCPG seeks to rediscover and reintroduce cultivated plants by encouraging their propagation and distribution so that they are grown as widely as possible. The NCCPG works closely with other conservation bodies as well as botanic gardens, The National Trust, The National Trust for Scotland, English Heritage, The Royal Horticultural Society and many specialist horticultural societies.
