Nessuno Tocchi Caino

Based in ITA Italy
Human Rights

Human systems can make mistakes. People can be falsely accused. Innocent people have been convicted and sentenced to death. Hands Off Cain is a league of citizens and parliamentarians for the abolition of the death penalty worldwide. It was founded in Brussels in 1993. Hands off Cain stands for justice without vengeance. The death penalty is not an issue of religious belief. The Koran and the Bible should not be used to justify it and do not mark a dividing line between retentionists and abolitionists. In fact, not all Islamic countries practice capital punishment whilst a number of Christian countries do. 98% of the total executions worldwide are carried out in illiberal countries such as China, Iran and Saudi Arabia. Hands Off Cain believes the definitive solution to the death penalty problem is to be found in these countries, and more than the death penalty itself, concerns democracy, the rule of law and human rights.

Network for Africa has projects in Rwanda, Northern Uganda and Eastern Chad. Our aim is to benefit all people in the communities where we work, regardless of race or religion. Partnering with the international charity, CORD, the N4A team began giving trauma counselling training to men, women and youths in Farchana and Gaga refugee camps in 2009. Thousands of men, women and children who have fled the genocide in Darfur continue to re-live their nightmares in refugee camps in Chad. Few receive any counselling or psychological support. Adelaide has the advantage of being well established. Clinical neurosurgical services are also predominantly located in one institution, the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH), and other neuroscientists are on campus or immediately adjacent. This concentrates experience and opens opportunities for non-academic neurosurgeons to have an involvement in research.

In 1990, guided by a plan to redevelop the area through the revitalization of 42nd Street’s historic theaters, the State and City of New York established the nonprofit organization now known as The New 42nd Street. The Victory, Times Square, Selwyn, Lyric, Liberty, Empire and Apollo theaters were leased by the State and City of New York to The New 42nd Street for 99 years.
