Medical Aid for Palestine

Medical Aid for Palestine was founded in order to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian civilians during the invasion of Lebanon by the Israeli army during the summer of 1982. MAP pursues two main goals: Coordinate the efforts of diverse groups who wish to provide concrete aid to Palestinians living in the Middle East; and Inform the public on the political causes and the social consequences of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Since 1995, MAP’s projects target education, health, training, the development of women and youth, the environment and human rights. Since the second Intifada (September, 2002), MAP has focused its efforts towards assisting children and youth in Palestine and southern Lebanon.

Medical Aid for Palestinians - MAP

MAP sends teams of doctors and specialist health professionals from the UK to the Middle East to work in partnership with Palestinian hospital staff and communities to build sustainable capacity for the future. We deliver health and medical care to the Palestinians worst affected by conflict, occupation and displacement. Today, MAP is able to reach the most vulnerable and ensure they are receiving the best healthcare available in such hostile and difficult conditions. MAP has developed special support programmes for children to help them to cope and live a normal childhood. We have developed innovative community health programmes in Lebanon which provide nutritional education to mothers in the refugee camps and we distribute healthy food during the critical early years of childhood to families in Gaza.

For over 40 years, The Medical Benevolence Foundation (MBF) has worked to provide hope and healing to those most in need. Working with our international church partners, MBF supports healing ministries in more than 100 hospitals and clinics throughout the world. The Medical Benevolence Foundation is made up of dedicated Presbyterians throughout the U.S. who are committed to providing medical support for people in remote areas throughout the world.

Medical College of Wisconsin

The Medical College of Wisconsin is a private, national, freestanding institution. The College was founded in 1893 as the Wisconsin College of Physicians and Surgeons. In 1913 the Wisconsin College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Milwaukee Medical College merged to become the Marquette University School of Medicine. In 1967 Marquette University, due to financial constraints, terminated its sponsorship of the medical school. The school then continued as a private, freestanding institution. Its name was changed in 1970 to The Medical College of Wisconsin. The College has approximately 13,500 alumni.

Medical Development for Israel

Medical Development for Israel, Inc. (MDI) is an American not-for-profit organization founded in 1982, to provide financial and technical support for the delivery and improvement of health care in Israel. The organization's lay leadership consists of prominent Americans who share a dedication to MDI's prime mission and to its present priority: Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel (SCMCI). In the last 20 years, MDI has raised funds for new facilities, equipment, patient services, research and education in hospitals, clinics, and research institutes in Israel.

Medical Mercy Canada Society

Medical Mercy Canada (MMC) is a non-religious, registered Canadian volunteer organization which provides unconditional help to impoverished persons in Ukraine and on the Burmese borders. Since 1991 Dr. Myron and Elaine Semkuley have led volunteers on annual trips to Ukraine each summer and to the borders of Burma each winter, providing medical assistance, instruction, and donated supplies, as well as funds and follow-up for small-scale building and hygiene projects. Currently, we provide direct on-site support for health projects in Ukraine and along the Thai-Burma and India-Burma borders. In Canada we raise funds, and awareness about the issues affecting Burmese refugees and impoverished Ukrainian villagers.

Medical Ministry Canada Inc.

MMI is an interdenominational medical ministry. Our statement of faith is the Apostle's Creed. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with international staff and offices in Texas and Ontario. We work alongside national doctors and health care professionals from the countries we go to, joining the efforts of the local church where possible. This healing ministry strengthens village churches and offers opportunities for North American churches to strengthen their outreach programs.

MMC seeks to address these shortcomings by targeting the 89,000 hospitals and more than 23 million allied healthcare workers worldwide with a broad curriculum of cutting-edge medical education broadcast on the Medical Broadcasting Channel, providing the expertise of specialists from tier-one mentoring institutions via remote diagnostic consultations and follow-up care using our Telemedicine Outreach Program, and by providing a virtual video library of unimpeachable medical video content to those researchers around the globe who wouldn't otherwise have access to such information using the Global Video Library of Medicine.

Medical Students for Choice is an internationally recognized non-profit organization with a network of over 10,000 medical students and residents around the United States and Canada. Medical Students for Choice® (MSFC) stands up in the face of violent opposition, working to destigmatize abortion provision among medical students and residents, and to persuade medical schools and residency programs to include abortion as a part of the reproductive health services curriculum.

Medicine River Wildlife Centre

The Medicine River Wildlife Centre works to rehabilitate and release injured and orphaned wild animals from across Alberta. MRWC currently treats close to 1000 animals annually. One very important facet of the mandate of MWRC is public education. The centre conducts numerous public education programs in our education facility, speaks to visitors to the centre, and presents informative programs in schools and nearby communities. All together, we interact with more than 12,000 people annually.

Medicines for Malaria Venture, a not-for-profit public-private partnership, was established as a foundation in Switzerland in 1999. It is dedicated to reducing the burden of malaria in disease-endemic countries by discovering, developing and facilitating delivery of new, effective and affordable antimalarial drugs. Our vision is a world in which these innovative medicines will cure and protect the vulnerable and under-served populations at risk of malaria, and help to ultimately eradicate this terrible disease.

Doctors of the World grew out of the French Doctors movement, consisting of a small group of physicians who were no longer able to stay silent in the face of the human rights violations they were witnessing. Out of a desire to bring help to the victims of the Biafra (Nigerian province) war of independence, many doctors had joined the Red Cross. In 1971 a number of them opposed to maintaining the silence and neutrality required by the Red Cross created an association with more scope to speak up and to act, Doctors Without Borders. A group of fifteen doctors decided to create a new association whose mandate was to both provide care and bear witness. Doctors of the World was thus born in France in March 1980. Setting up the first association launched a dynamic force which resulted in the creation of a number of Doctors of the World associations in Europe, North and South America and Asia.

Medisend's mission includes education, training, technical support and management technologies in Biomedical Equipment Repair, as well as the distribution of life-saving medical supplies and biomedical equipment in long-term partnership programs. MediSend International has made more than 590 shipments, valued at over $72 million to 93 developing countries. MediSend's "Containers of Hope" have sent hope and healing to millions of people in need of medical attention worldwide.

Meds & Food for Kids (MFK)

MFK is a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation in the United States and a registered Non-Governmental Organization in Haiti. We accomplish our mission by developing, producing, and distributing highly nutritious foods, including the gold-standard Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF). We make our food products in Haiti, using Haitian workers and, whenever possible, Haitian raw materials. Haitians call our RUTF “Medika Mamba” — or “Peanut Butter Medicine” in Creole.

MedShare International

In 1998, A.B. Short and Bob Freeman were concerned with the critical healthcare needs of the underserved populations throughout the world and the environmental threat of discarded medical supplies and equipment. To act on these issues, MedShare was born. MedShare is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving healthcare and the environment through the efficient recovery and redistribution of the surplus of medical supplies and equipment to those most in need.

MEET

Middle East Education through Technology (MEET), is founded on the belief that Israeli and Palestinian youth need to develop common ground between them, where they can meet and discover their cultures, their similarities, their differences — their humanity. MEET aims to break the long-held misconceptions Israelis and Palestinians have of each other in order to foster cooperation and understanding among the youth that are likely future leaders of our region. MEET uses technology to create a common language between Israelis and Palestinians that can be translated into future cooperation between the communities.

Meir Panim

Meir Panim was established to help alleviate and diminish the harmful effects of poverty on thousands of families across Israel. The need to help needy Israeli families break out of the vicious cycle of poverty is something that could not be ignored. American Friends of Meir Panim is steadfast in its mission to keep children-at-risk in productive environments, sustaining them and providing an opportunity for a brighter future.
