Greenpeace is present in 40 countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and the Pacific. To maintain its independence, Greenpeace does not accept donations from governments or corporations but relies on contributions from individual supporters and foundation grants. Greenpeace has been campaigning against environmental degradation since 1971 when a small boat of volunteers and journalists sailed into Amchitka, an area north of Alaska where the US Government was conducting underground nuclear tests. This tradition of 'bearing witness' in a non-violent manner continues today, and our ships are an important part of all our campaign work.

Greenways Land Trust is a conservation organization that works to enhance recreational and ecological greenways for people and wildlife. The work is accomplished by volunteers who participate in: stewardship, public education, and community events. Greenways supports projects that enhance salmon habitat, the restoration of Baikie Island and interactive programs for adults and/or kids. GLT volunteers also perform trail maintenance, most notably in the Beaver Lodge Forest Lands. In 2007, GLT officially became the stewards of the Haig Brown Heritage Property and so there will be plenty of opportunities to become involved! We act as a community resource centre on issues of land and stream stewardship.

The school is fully accredited by the State of Connecticut through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and is a member of NAIS. Country Day was founded in 1926. The original 49 students and 11 faculty members, under the leadership of Headmaster John Lynn Miner, began their fledgling enterprise in a barn on the property of William A. Rockefeller. A year later, enrollment had tripled, and The Greenwich Country Day School found a permanent home on a beautiful estate, which still functions as an integral part of the campus. Today, GCDS defines itself as a rigorous family-school fostering academic excellence.

Groundwork was established in 1981 to organise Rhododendron eradication workcamps and thus help in the fight to conserve our last remaining fragments of Irish native woodland. Those 27 years have seen the growth of Groundwork from a small group of environmentally-concerned Irish students to an organisation attracting like-minded people from all over the world to carry out voluntary work in one of Ireland's most beautiful natural landscapes. Most of Groundworkâs focus has been on the removal of the invasive Rhododendron ponticum from Killarney National Park, Co. Kerry. Other projects have been tackled including rhododendron clearance work in Glenveagh National Park, Co. Donegal and drain blocking on bogs in the midlands of Ireland.

Since 1946, the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, Inc. has provided guide dogs free of charge to blind people who seek enhanced mobility and independence. Our students come to us from all over the United States and many foreign countries. Our trademark small classes and individualized instruction often attract students who may have special requirements. We have successfully trained hearing-impaired blind people as well as many physically challenged people. We are supported entirely by donations from generous individuals, corporations and foundations. We receive no government funding.

Our unique program is equal parts match-making, intensive training, and lifetime support. Students have access to instructors, counselors and veterinarians, a full-time nursing staff, a dedicated dormitory staff all of whom attend to students' needs in order to make their stay pleasant and enjoyable. Also, unique among guide dog schools, we offer follow-up services to each graduate of our program at their home or place of business for the lifetime of their guide dog partnership.
Disability
We provide mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people. We also campaign for the rights of people with visual impairment, educate the public about eye care and fund eye disease research. The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association consists of stakeholders, including our customers, volunteers, donors, employees and trustees. We work as a team to deliver mobility and access services that meet the needs and aspirations of blind and partially-sighted people in the United Kingdom. Guide Dogs was founded in 1931, and is a charity that receives no government funding for the guide dogs service. The guide dog service is entirely dependent on voluntary donations. The guide dog service costs the guide dog owner a nominal fee of just 50 pence to ensure equality for all in the UK. We are a world leader in breeding and training guide dogs and are a co-founder of the International Guide Dog Federation.
